Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction occurs in 80% to 90% of patients with Asthma [1]. EIB is especially limiting for children because it may interfere with activities important for physical and social development[2].Therefore one goal of asthma therapy is to minimize the impact of EIB on daily activities. Current recommendations for the treatment and prevention of EIB include the administration of short-acting β2-adrenergic agonist or cromolyn before exercise[3]. Kemp JP et al reported protection against EIB by montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist in 6- to 14-year-old children with asthma.
