Montelukast

Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist wchich has been proven  efficient in the control of asthma exacerbations in adults [1], school children [2], and preschool children [3] with persistent asthma and in adults with aspirin-intolerant asthma [4]. In addition, montelukast significantly reduced symptoms and exacerbations from respiratory syncytial virus postbronchiolitis in infants without asthma [5].Oral montelukast (4-mg chewable tablet) administered once daily is effective therapy for asthma in children aged 2 to 5 years and is generally well tolerated without clinically important adverse effects. Similarly, in adults and children aged 6 to 14 years, montelukast improves multiple parameters of asthma control[6].
