Carbamilation

The chemical procedure that is based on the use of potassium cyanate in experimental conditions that selectively promote substitution of the ε-amino group of the lysine moiety of proteins present in allergenic extracts or in single allergens such as Par j I and ovalbumin. Carbamylated allergens have been characterized for their biologic activity and physicochemical features and have potential for the therapeutic control of allergic diseases.
