Dictionary of Allergies .. Asthma and psychotherapy

Emotional disturbance can trigger attacks of asthma and adverse psychocosocial factors can compromise asthma control. Several psychotherapeutic approaches have been assessed in controlled trials and found to be of value in the management of childhood asthma, as an adjunct to standard treatment. For the majority of cases time spent by the clinician in explaining the condition and its treatment is all that is required.
