AIDS and pruritic eruption

Liautaud et al 1989 observed intensely pruritic cutaneous eruptions in 46% of 134 Haitian patients with AIDS. No specific cause could be identified, and there was no response to treatment with oral antihistamines, systemic antibiotics, and topical hydrocortisone, lindane, or crotamiton.
