Dictionary of Allergies .. á1-antichymotrypsin

A protease inhibitor related to á1-antitrypsin in amino acid sequence and gene arrangement. A deficiency in á1-antichymotrypsin has shown an association with asthma. Heterozygous á1-antichymotrypsin deficiencybhas been reported to have a significantly increased prevalence in children with asthma while the first degree relatives of women with heterozygous á1-antichymotrypsin deficiency have a higher prevalence of asthma than matched control subjects.\
