Nasal basal membrane

The basal membrane separates the epithelium from the lamina propria of the nasal mucosa. Thickening of the reticular basement membrane is characteristic of airway remodelling in asthma, but similar degrees of thickening are seen in patients with perennial rhinitis and those with perennial allergic asthma.
