Gastroesophageal reflux asthma

Episodes of asthmatic attacks after overeating were closely correlated with gastroesophageal reflux as determined by decreased lower esophageal sphincter pressure and pH monitoring of distal esophagus which had a high score[1]. (See Gastroesophageal reflux). A high prevalence of GER was found in children and adolescents with persistent asthma, equally distributed in the supine (nocturnal) and upright positions. There was no correlation with pulmonary function test[2].
