Dictionary of Allergies .. epigenetics (επιγενετική).

epigenetics (επιγενετική).  Epigenetics is the study of how we can change the expression of our genes without changing the sequence of the actual DNA or the genetic code. "Epi" comes from the Greek word meaning over, above, or outer. So, epigenetics is the study of changing genetics without actually touching the genes - cool right?

This new biology of epigenetics is proving that cells are very responsive to the environment, and that the impact of the environment reaches deep into the DNA of the cell. Epigenetic inheritance is the inheritance of genetic information that is not based on DNA sequence alone.
